Best Water Filter on the Market

​This last month I've been learning about water. We all know drinking water is good for us - our body is 75% water, our brain is 85% water, and our eyes are 99% water.

Did you know that if you drink the recommended amount of water (half your body weight in ounces), then every three weeks you replace your body weight in water? That means every 21 days you have a new opportunity to create within your own body a healthy system. Water is the key to all bodily functions -- circulation, assimilation, digestion, elimination, and even temperature control. The quality and quantity of water to a large extent determines your health. An estimated 75% of Americans suffer from chronic dehydration.

Effects of dehydration:

1. Just a small drop in hydration is the major cause of fatigue during the day.

2. The main problem with joint discomfort is dehydration in cushioning and elasticity for those joints. Many times when we are thirsty our brain interprets that as hunger, so it can lead to weight gain (my husband's favorite theory ;)).

3. Headaches are caused by inflammation

Municipal water sources include harmful substances such as arsenic, asbestos, benzene, lead, VOC's, radon, radium etc. In fact, on March 11th 2008, the Water Quality Association released a statement that pharmaceutical drugs were recently detected in municipal water sources and advised that "filtering systems in the home provide the highest technology available for treatment of drinking water" (Source).

BOTTLED WATER

So we should buy bottled water, right? Wrong! It's not very well regulated, and can even be from municipal water sources, plastic bottles lead to health concerns, and there are ecological issues to boot! More than 4 billion pounds of plastic from water bottles end up in landfills every year!

WELL WATER

Then use well water, right? I always thought well water was the best water out there, but it's not necessarily true. My little 2 and 3 year old girls had horrible cracks in their skin covering their legs and backs that I couldn't get rid of no matter how much lotion I used. A friend explained to me that my daughters were probably getting a lot of minerals and water that was not easily absorbable (more about that later). We moved to the city a month or so later and their skin began to clear up. It's been even more improved by filtering their bath water (see the filter here).

This water filter is incredible. I compared it side-to-side with a $400 filter Dan and I purchased 4 years ago, and it's just as good but a fraction of the cost. It uses a 5-stage filter of carbon, zeolite, and alkalizing media.

FLOURIDE

I'd like to make a side note about fluoride. Very few filters remove fluoride because of its very small chemical structure, but the PiMag filter takes out 60%, which is pretty incredible.

Fluoride was glorified and readily accepted, added to our water systems beginning in 1945 without scientific proof showing it was safe. We thought it protected our children's teeth from cavities, which it has been shown to do when applied topically. However, when INGESTED, it doesn't strengthen our teeth to avoid cavities.

In fact, young children are not supposed to drink water with fluoride levels over 2.0 mg/L to help protect children from dental fluorosis (a condition where fluoride collects in developing teeth, preventing tooth enamel from forming normally (reference)). This can cause permanent staining or pitting of teeth. However, fluoride is routinely added to US drinking water at levels of 4.0 mg/L, double the safe level for children.

Fluorine is the most reactive element on the planet and has been shown to cause osteosarcoma (cancer) in male rats. Another concern is skeletal fluorosis, which results in joint stiffness and pain, and can also lead to weak bones or fractures in older adults.

2. PIMAG WATER IS ALKALINE

Why drink alkaline water?

"Mainstream medical texts are all in agreement: The pH balance of the human bloodstream is one of the most important biochemical balances in all of human body chemistry" (The pH Miracle).

Your body is working incredibly hard to maintain a slightly basic environment (ideal being a pH of 7.365). The problem is, almost everything you eat and even your bodily functions -- breathing, exercising, digesting etc. -- produce acidic effects.

I'm willing to bet your body is in a state of acidosis, because though I eat little to no meat, dairy, and refined carbohydrates (all acid-forming), and I include a lot of alkaline foods such as grasses and green leafy vegetables, when I tested myself I was a pH of 5. I was on a mission to convert the pH of my body to at least 7 in the next 48 hours. With INCREDIBLE effort, I achieved that goal, but it only lasted for a day. According to Dr. Young "Overacidification of body fluids and tissues underlies all disease" (The pH Miracle, p. 13) and most of us constantly live in a state of acidosis (overacidification).

As your body becomes more acidic, symptoms begin small like skin eruptions, headaches, allergies; then more serious dysfunction occurs such as a failing thyroid, adrenals and liver. When a body's tissue pH is acidic, oxygen levels decrease and cellular metabolism stops. Cells begin dying and your body is forced to pull alkaline minerals from your blood (as with sodium or potassium), cartilage and bones (as with calcium), and muscles (as with magnesium) to compensate. As the acid overload continues, the lymphatic (immune) system does all it can to neutralize the acid and then begins dumping into your tissues, leading to irritation and inflammation, ultimately setting the stage for sickness and disease. For instance, oxidized tissue in the liver leads to hepatitis, cirrhosis, and cancer. But when our lifestyle and dietary choices create an alkaline environment, it actually prevents disease. At a pH slightly above 7.4 cancer cells become dormant and at pH 8.5 cancer cells will die while healthy cells will live (reference).

3. PIMAG WATER HAS MICROCLUSTERING, ANTIOXIDANT, and HYDRATING EFFECTS

The Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) of most tap water in the USA is between +150 to +600mv and so is an oxidizing agent. High pH ionized water demonstrates a – ORP and so is a reducing agent or “antioxidant.” The PiMag water alters the ORP of your drinking water, which causes the microclustering, antioxidant and hydrating effects.

MICROCLUSTERING RESULTS IN HYDRATION

NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) analysis reveals that tap water and well water consist of clusters of 10 to 13 H20 molecules. When water encounters magnets, it reduces the hydrogen-oxygen bond angle causing the water molecule to cluster in groups of 6-7 rather than the 10-13 molecules in tap/well water. As Jon Barron, internationally renowned health expert, explained: “The smaller the groupings, the more bio-available the water is -- the more easily it is able to pass through cell walls, to transport nutrients and remove waste, to facilitate all of the communications systems in your body, and to pass through your body as a whole. The larger the groupings, the more inefficient water is at performing these same functions.

“What holds water molecules together in clusters is surface tension. This is what you see when you wash your car and the water beads up in droplets on the hood. When washing your car, you use detergent to break that surface tension -- which breaks apart the large molecular clusters, making the water wetter and better able to clean. Obviously, you can't use detergent to 'improve' the bioavailability of your drinking water. But you can use magnetics. Magnetizing your drinking water breaks its surface tension, making it wetter and more useable by every cell in your body" (Jon Barron Baseline of Health® Newsletter, June 2002).

ANTIOXIDANT EFFECTS OF PIMAG WATER
