Fun On Your Next Road Trip
One of our favorite family films, The Princess Bride has pretty much become a classic. Loved by kids and adults alike, my husband and I just grew to love it even more!
Wesley compiled all the behind the scenes stories (and I must say there are a LOT of jewels in there) from his point of view into an audiobook called "As You Wish."
Spoiler Alert! Some of my favorite stories...
When the director was going to interview Wesley, Wesley was in Europe in a nuclear fallout zone from Chernobyl. The director was so nervous he left behind a many hundred (thousand?) dollar suit coat because of fear of nuclear fallout "when he didn't have money to do that."
Once Fezzik got drunk (he could drink a LOT) and he passed out for the night. No one could move him, so they placed "caution" signs all around him.
Fezzik (Andre the Giant) was incredibly kind. Though he was such a sweet giant, most kids were scared of him.
Wesley was actually knocked out by the sword of the prince (I always thought it was bad acting, but no, he actually fainted)
"Inconcievable" -- Vizzini thought he was second choice for his part and still to this day thinks he butchered it! (Remember the battle of wits? He was spectacular!)
Wesley got in a four wheeling accident off-set and when he suavely sits down on the log and skips into the fire swamp it's because he's limping.
Buttercup's dress was actually on fire in the fire swamp. On the first take the writer yelled out "Oh my gosh! Her dress is on fire!" and wrecked that take
ROUS's are actually midgets inside suits and one of them got arrested on his way to film the scene.
