For LDS Students, Do You Home School Seminary?
Question
For LDS Students, Do You Home School Seminary?
My husband who is a seminary teacher answered this one for me. This response comes from the Director of Seminaries and Institutes for our area.
"The church board of education has not approved home study seminary for situations [where students would like to study at home]. The online home study program is designed to accommodate people in extreme rural locations or students with special needs (such as a developmental delay or disorder). Wherever a stake class is organized, students without serious limiting circumstances are expected to attend. One of the primary purposes of seminary is to facilitate a learning environment where students can learn to teach and express their feelings about the gospel to others."
The church in our area tries to offer multiple class times to facilitate different schedule. Some of the students in our stake live almost 30 miles from the Stake Center but are encouraged to attend seminary in person.
