The Empowerment Project #2 - The Principle Behind My Story

The Principle

In the Bible, it talks about God speaking things into existence. This is the principle of creating things spiritually before they are created physically.

“And now, behold, I say unto you, that these are the generations of the heaven and of the earth, when they were created, in the day that I, the Lord God, made the heaven and the earth,

“And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth” (Moses 3:4–5), see also Pray Always by Elder Bednar.

Spiritual creation preceded the temporal creation of everything on the earth. We have written our story and envisioned who we want to become so that we can say these affirmations to ourselves and visualize them being true. After standing in front of the mirror and with conviction and enthusiasm reaffirming who we "are," we really begin to be the person we want to be. Each night, we return and report how we did when we state our story again.

This principle is not only taught by the scriptures and prophets, it is taught by Stephen Covey: "Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen" (7 Habits). Great businessmen use these principles and we moms can too!
