The Open Heart Challenge Day 2
Is It Possible to Change My Heart?
Can we really become more loving and intentionally cultivate a submissive and selfless heart? We hope that initiating a change in our hearts will lead to our feeling an added measure of love for the Lord and in turn help others feel his love.
What Does the Experiment Look Like?
Sometimes I guard my heart because I feel like if I opened it I would have to take meals to my visiting teachees, feed the homeless, and have 10 kids. But that’s not what this is about. Don’t do anything outside of the natural flow of your life. Just become aware of your heart.
Don’t try to change anyone else’s heart. When someone opens up to you, just listen – don’t try and tell them what’s right to do. Just try really hard to see them how Heavenly Father does.
This challenge comes from Sister Pearce, who teaches that one of her personal red flags is “when I feel that I can’t attend to someone because I am too busy. Having an open heart isn’t a matter of time, it really is a matter of being present, available, and open to whoever is in my physical space at any given moment.”
Simply be more aware of your heart.
